DALKEITH'S budding tennis players received the VIP (Very Important Player) treatment at the town's Cavaliere restaurant when they celebrated the end of one of the local tennis club's most successful seasons.
A total of 24 members of Dalkeith Tennis Club's junior section were treated to lunch at the club's sponsor when the season's prizes were presented.

"It was a great year for youngsters at the club," said Junior Liaison Officer Karen Campbell. "We regularly had between 25 and 30 kids enjoying our Sunday sessions and despite the poor summer and autumn only one was called off because of rain."

The sessions included training from a qualified tennis coach. The boys' and girls' champions gained additional experience by taking part in the main club competitions.

Special thanks are due to club stalwart Michael Roarty (pictured above with some of the competitors in the senior/junior event) who helped organise the Sunday events.

Main winners over the season were:

Junior Boy Champion — Steven Smith.

Junior Girl Champion — Sam Campbell.

Under 12 Boy Champion — Christopher Jones.

Under 12 Girl Champion —Jessica Lettice.

Senior/Junior Doubles winner — Alexander Duff.
