Bobsledder Kenny Simm left Newtongrange for Italy recently to compete in the British Championships.
The 25-year-old Royal Marine Commando, originally from the Shetlands, has been in the British Bobsleigh team for two seasons.

He started off in shot putting and the discus before he was head-hunted through the Marines by British number one bobsledder Lee Johnston.

Kenny is to compete in races in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the US, before heading off to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver.
