CHAMBERS of Commerce in the Lothians have clubbed together to tee off their own golf society.
"It has been set up to provide an informal networking forum for the regional business community," said Lothian Chambers Golfing Society Captain Alasdair MacLean of TaxAssist accountants in Dalkeith.

"A lot of business gets done over a round of gol
f and we're hoping this will lead to even better deals as well as giving members enjoyable, relaxing days out on some top courses."

The organisation comprises members of Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce, joined by guests from their West Lothian counterparts.

The inaugural meeting was held over the Broomieknowe course at Bonnyrigg, with top prize going to Jim Bowman of the Royal Bank of Scotland (41 Stableford points).

Runner-up Gregor Murray of the Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber (39 points) also took the prize for nearest to the pin while the longest drive was achieved by Eddie Bradley of In the Zone Coaching.

The society plans four meetings a year.

Matches are also scheduled against Edinburgh and Ayrshire Chambers of Commerce. Venue for the clash with Ayrshire in August is Dundonald, sister of the famous Loch Lomond course.

Anyone wanting more information on the Lothian Chambers Golfing Society should call Alasdair MacLean at TaxAssist on 654 1771 or Weir Brown at Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce on 654 1234.
