With neither of Eskvale Ladies teams in action at the weekend, the Eskvale men's team met Falkirk for a home game at the Dalkeith Schools Campus on Sunday.

Eskvale fielded a few newcomers in their squad and it was a very well matched fixture with
both teams having shots on goal but none finding the back of the net.

The more experienced Falkirk side were unlucky not to score in the first half but the second half saw Eskvale men settle and gain in confidence.

They narrowly missed an early chance when striker Bryn Tennent was unable to get his stick to a well-struck cross.

The only goal of the match came late in the second half from Eskvale's top scorer Garry Jones, whose strike from the edge of the circle beat the Falkirk keeper.

Despite last minute pressure from the visitors, Eskvale held on for a well-deserved victory.

The Eskvale men will meet East Lothian at home on Sunday. The men's coaching takes place on Sundays at the Campus and new players (aged 14 years and upwards) are being sought. Contact Jane Carmichael on 0131 663 8422 for further information.

On Saturday afternoon, both Eskvale Ladies' teams travel to Fife where the Firsts will play Dunfermline II in a Premier League encounter and the Seconds will play Dunfermline III in a Division 3 fixture.

Eskvale Hockey Club also has an U-14 hockey section for boys and girls of all abilities. The youth hockey is open to children aged from P6 upwards.

As well as receiving coaching at the Campus on Sundays from 10.30am to noon, the team is growing in confidence playing in the local U-14 league at Meggetland.
