ARNISTON Rangers' President John "Jock" Thomson announced this week that after more than 30 years' distinguished service with the club he is stepping down.
He will be replaced by Allan Simpson, the new president, while former Grade 1 referee Jimmy Duncan is the new vice president of the club.
The announcement was made following Monday evening's weekly meeting of club officials.
Jock is waiting to go into hospital for an operation for which everyone in junior football wishes him every success.
Jock said: "At least I'm going out on a high!" as his last game as club president last Saturday at Olivebank saw Arniston beat Linlithgow Rose in the East of Scotland Cup.
A senior statesman in junior football and life member of the East Region JFA since 1988 Jock will always synonymous with the great name of Arniston Rangers as he takes a well earned rest.
