One of Midlothian's biggest events, the Vogrie festival, may have to be moved to another date to reach its full potential, according to a local councillor.
Almost 3,000 people attended the festival, now in its 25th year – but the sun failed to shine on the flagship event.

Councillor Colin Beattie, a member of the Vogrie Festival Committee, told the Advertiser the event would have seen bigger numbers had poor weather not kept potential revellers away.

Hugely important

Asked whether it was advisable to run the event on the same day as Edinburgh's Fringe Sunday, Councillor Beattie said: "There's no magic date for the Vogrie festival.

I think it's hugely important that we have something for the whole of Midlothian.

"But nothing says that the date is sacrosanct."
