Police in Midlothian have unveiled the latest tool in the fight against crime – bicycles.
Lothian and Borders Police demonstrated the bikes at the Vogrie Festival recently.

Community Inspector John McGilll told the Advertiser: "They are going to be utilised by the CAT team to supplement patrols throughout Midlothian.

Reduce the fear of crime

"They will be used to access harder to reach areas, such as walkways and lanes."

He added: "The bicycles will give officers enhanced visibility and hopefully reduce the fear of crime."

Funded

The bikes will be used at future events across Midlothian by both uniformed and plain clothed officers.

Midlothian Council has funded the initiative through the Community Safety Partnership.
