The go-ahead has been given to plans to build new council housing in the Mayfield area.
Midlothian Council is to build 36 houses and 50 flats – with associated access roads, car parking and sustainable drainage systems – at land between Blackcot Road and Eskview Road, Mayfield.

Details of the development were made available in April.

Application

Last month the Advertiser highlighted a Mayfield family's campaign to save a beech tree in the walled playing field at the end of Blackcot Road, which will be removed as part of the planning application.

Chairman of Mayfield and Easthouses Community Council Robert Hogg said: "No members of the public approached the community council.

Concerns

We will certainly be looking into it, but it (the plan) came out months ago, and that's the time to raise any concerns."
